Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms
By creating an account or using Pantry (“the Service”), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
2. Description of Service
Pantry is a grocery receipt intelligence application that extracts, classifies, and organizes purchase data from receipt images. The Service includes mobile applications (iOS and Android), a web application, and associated backend services.
3. Account Registration
- You must provide a valid email address to create an account.
- You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials.
- One account per person. Household sharing is available via the invite feature.
- You must be at least 13 years old to create an account.
4. Subscription Tiers
Pantry offers the following subscription tiers:
- Free: Core scanning, item ledger, basic spending summaries, and one receipt-level insight per scan.
- Individual: All free features plus expanded insights, subcategory drill-down, cross-store price comparison, CSV export, and up to 2 household members.
- Household: All Individual features plus up to 5 household members.
Paid subscriptions are billed through Apple App Store, Google Play Store, or Stripe (for web). Subscription management, cancellation, and refund policies are governed by the respective payment platform’s terms.
5. Scan Limits
To ensure service quality and manage costs, scan submissions are subject to rolling 7-day limits:
- Free tier: 20 scans per 7-day window (30 during first 7 days)
- Paid tiers: 100 scans per 7-day window (unlimited during first 7 days)
6. User Content
You retain ownership of receipt images and data you provide to the Service. By using the Service, you grant us a limited license to:
- Process your receipt images through our AI pipeline to extract item data.
- Store your receipt images securely for the duration of your account.
- Use your taxonomy corrections to improve the global product classification database (in anonymized, aggregate form only — see our Privacy Policy).
You must not submit receipts belonging to other people without their consent, or submit images containing content unrelated to grocery receipts.
7. AI-Powered Features
Pantry uses artificial intelligence to extract and classify receipt data. While we strive for accuracy:
- AI-generated classifications may contain errors. You can correct any misclassification.
- Spending summaries and insights are derived from AI-processed data and should not be relied upon for financial, tax, or legal purposes.
- We continuously improve accuracy through user corrections and model updates.
8. Prohibited Uses
You may not:
- Use the Service for any illegal purpose.
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or extract the AI models or algorithms.
- Submit fabricated or manipulated receipt images.
- Automate submissions or scrape data from the Service without authorization.
- Interfere with the Service’s operation or other users’ access.
- Share your account credentials with others (use household sharing instead).
9. Service Availability
We aim for high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted access. The Service may be temporarily unavailable for maintenance, updates, or circumstances beyond our control. Offline functionality (cached data browsing, queued uploads) is provided on a best-effort basis.
10. Limitation of Liability
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND. WE ARE NOT LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID FOR THE SERVICE IN THE 12 MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM.

11. Account Termination
- You may delete your account at any time from Settings > Account > Delete Account.
- Upon deletion, your data is erased in two phases (see Privacy Policy, Section 7).
- We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, with notice where possible.
12. Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via in-app notification at least 30 days before taking effect. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
13. Governing Law
